Adrenal Failure

Additional InformationAdrenal failure is due to the adrenal glands producing insufficient steroid hormones to maintain health. There are many causes, including autoimmune disease and infection.

Affected individuals take replacement steroid hormones. The dose of these must be increased during times of stress. It is considered that taking blood from people with adrenal failure may put them at unnecessary risk.
Reason for changeThe title has been changed from 'Addison's Disease' to 'Adrenal Failure' and 'Additional Information' has been added.
