Additional Information | Individuals who have had cardiac surgery, other than for congenital abnormality, are unlikely to be fit enough to safely have a large volume of blood removed. An individual who has had congenital abnormalities corrected can often lead a normal lifestyle and may be able to give blood safely. If the criteria under 'Discretionary' are met, the Designated Medical Officer can make a documented decision based on the individual's medical history. |
