Additional Information

The use of monoclonal antibody and other biological therapies continues to expand. Care should be taken to understand the type of treatment and the indication, which may not be included in the ‘See if Relevant’ section.

Current scientific literature does not provide conclusive evidence to reject concerns that individuals on these treatments are more prone to infection. Until further clarity is provided in the literature, donors on these medications are withdrawn, unless otherwise stated.

Reason for change

Links to conditions that are currently commonly treated with monoclonal antibody therapies have been added to the ‘See if Relevant’ section, with reference to the expansion in types of treatment and use of these treatments within the ‘Additional Information’ section.
